UPUOnline Application Deadline Extended to 12 April 2026 for SPM Leavers

Students who plan to apply to Malaysian public universities through UPUOnline now have more time to submit their applications.

The Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia has announced that the application deadline for SPM leavers has been extended from 23 March 2026 to 12 April 2026 for the 2026/2027 academic intake.

However, the deadline for applicants with STPM or equivalent qualifications remains unchanged at 23 March 2026.

Extension Due to SPM Results Release

According to the Ministry of Higher Education, the extension was introduced following the official announcement by the Ministry of Education that SPM 2025 examination results will be released on 31 March 2026.

By extending the deadline, SPM students will have sufficient time to review their examination results before finalising their applications to higher education institutions.

What is UPUOnline?

UPUOnline is the centralised system used by the Malaysian government for applications to public higher education institutions.

Through this system, students can apply to:

• Public universities (Universiti Awam)
• Polytechnics
• Community colleges
• Institutions under MARA’s Higher Education Division

For the 2026/2027 academic session, a total of:

• 363 programmes are offered to SPM leavers
• 1,146 programmes are available for STPM or equivalent applicants

How to Apply Through UPUOnline

Students must first purchase a UPUOnline PIN number before submitting their application.

The PIN costs RM10.60 (including service charges) and can be obtained through Bank Simpanan Nasional via:

• BSN branch counters
• BSN ATM machines
• myBSN internet banking

Applicants should keep the payment receipt as proof of purchase.

Once the PIN is obtained, students can log in to the UPUOnline portal to complete their application and select their preferred study programmes.

Apply Early to Avoid System Congestion

The Ministry has advised students not to wait until the final days before submitting their applications, as heavy traffic on the UPUOnline system may cause delays or technical disruptions.

Applicants are also reminded to confirm their submission by clicking the “Saya Setuju” button and saving or printing the application slip as proof that their application has been successfully submitted.
