IJN University College (IJNUC) marks a significant milestone in Malaysia’s higher education landscape following its official upgrade to a University College on 13 May 2025. This transformation enables the institution to offer its own degree, master’s, and PhD programmes, reflecting its readiness to contribute to the development of healthcare and managerial professionals.
IJNUC traces its origins back to 2007 as the training division of Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), Malaysia’s leading heart centre. Initially established to support the professional development of IJN staff, the institution expanded its role to provide structured academic programmes to the wider public. In 2008, it became IJN College and introduced its first flagship programme, the Graduate Certificate in Cardiovascular & Thoracic Sciences.
Over the years, IJNUC has progressively expanded its academic offerings in response to healthcare and industry needs. New programmes were introduced across nursing, allied health sciences, and healthcare-related disciplines, followed by expansion into areas such as healthcare management, psychology, and human resource management.
Today, IJNUC is home to a growing student population of more than 1,000 students and continues to strengthen its academic portfolio with programmes that are aligned with industry requirements. As the academic arm of Institut Jantung Negara, IJNUC maintains a close connection with clinical practice and specialised healthcare expertise, particularly in cardiovascular and cardiothoracic education.
