Course Overview

Chemistry is an important fundamental discipline that plays a significant role in many areas of biological and physical sciences, as well as agriculture, medicine and allied health disciplines. This three-year full-time programme provides students with basic principles in the areas of Analytical, Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. The strength of the programme is in the teaching methodologies and the breadth and depth of the curriculum which includes management subject areas. Students will also be taught the necessary skills to adapt to the ever-changing technological environment after graduation.

Entry Requirements

eneral Requirements:

SPM

• Possess the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with at least:
  • Grade C in Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Melayu (July Paper).
  • Grade E in Sejarah (History) from the year 2013 onwards.

AND

STPM

• Pass the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with at least:
  • A minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00.
  • Grade C in Pengajian Am (General Studies).
  • TWO (2) Grade Cs in any other subjects not already counted.

AND

MUET

• Obtain at least Band 1.0 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from Session 1 of 2021, with a validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released.

Specific Requirements:

• Obtain a minimum CGPA of 2.00 at the STPM level.
• Obtain at least a Grade B- in TWO (2) subjects at the STPM level:
  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics T / Physics / Biology
• Obtain at least Band 2.0 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for results obtained from Session 1 of 2021 onwards, with a validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released.
• Open only to candidates of Malay descent, Anak Negeri Sabah, Anak Negeri Sarawak, and Orang Asli.

Career Prospects

This programme caters to the changing needs of the nation in the field of Chemistry. As students are given the opportunity to study management subject areas during this programme, UiTM chemistry graduates will have better prospects in being employed in many areas of chemical industry and commerce including R&D, marketing and sales as well as manaerial positions.

Opportunities for further studies

Graduates of this programme may pursue their studies at the post-graduate level in other fields apart from chemistry, such as education, engineering, applied sciences and information technology.
