Course Overview

Communications and networking technologies have transformed how people live and work. As organisations become increasingly digital and connected, their networks grow in size and complexity and face greater cybersecurity risks. Skilled communications and networking professionals are therefore needed to maintain reliable and secure network infrastructure.

The Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) (Communications and Networking) prepares graduates to design, develop and implement communications and networking systems.

The programme emphasises hands-on learning and introduces students to current industry standards and commercial networking practices. Areas covered include the Internet of Things, cybersecurity, 4G and 5G wireless technologies and cloud computing.

Entry Requirements

• UTAR Foundation Programme
• STPM: Grade C/C+ in 2 relevant subjects depending on the programs (except M.B.B.S. and Quantity Surveying)
• A-Level: Grade D in 2 or 3 relevant subjects
• UEC: Grade B in 5 relevant subjects
• SAM: ATAR 70 and Grade B in at least 2 relevant subjects
• CPU: An average of 70% in 6 relevant subjects (depending on programs)
• Matriculation Certificate, Ministry of Education
• Foundation/Diploma in the relevant fields
• Other recognized equivalent qualifications
