The Bachelor of Science (Honours) Architecture is designed for students who wish to pursue a professional career in architecture. It is recognised by the Board of Architects Malaysia, also known as Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM), as a Part I professional qualification.
Graduates may work as assistant architects or continue to the Master of Architecture at UTAR, which is recognised as LAM Part II, as part of the pathway towards registration as a graduate architect.
The programme develops knowledge of architectural design, building construction, architectural detailing, presentation, information technology, analytical thinking and creative problem-solving.
During the first year, students study basic design, architectural theory, manual drawing and computer-aided drawing. The second year introduces small-scale buildings, building science, building services, construction and technology. The third year focuses on more complex mid-rise developments through studio projects incorporating environmental science, structures, building services, construction and architectural theory.
