The Bachelor of Science (Honours) Financial Mathematics provides advanced training in quantitative finance. It prepares students to analyse financial instruments, evaluate investments and manage financial risks using mathematical and computational methods.
The programme draws on probability theory, scientific computing and computational finance to model relationships between variables such as asset prices, market movements and interest rates.
Students study the mathematical foundations used in financial product development and option pricing. The knowledge gained may be applied to financial risk management, commodity hedging, derivatives markets and financial regulation.
Students also have opportunities to apply their programming skills through electronically automated trading systems.
