Civil engineering applies scientific and technical knowledge to the planning, design, construction and maintenance of structures and infrastructure such as buildings, industrial facilities, roads and bridges.
The Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honours develops a foundation in science and engineering together with technical competence in civil engineering. Students learn to identify, formulate and solve engineering problems and to design and evaluate the operational performance of civil engineering systems.
Students are introduced to current industry software and practices through assignments and integrated design projects. Technologies covered include Autodesk Revit, SCIA and Building Information Modelling and Management software.
Research and teaching activities are supported by industry collaborations, including the Brunsfield endowment chair and collaborative green housing technology research with KEN Holdings Berhad. Internship and employment exposure may also involve construction organisations such as Brunsfield, Gamuda, IJM Corporation, SP Setia, Sunway Group, YTL Corporation and WCT.
Formerly known as Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Civil Engineering.
