Course Overview

A quantity surveyor is a construction professional who provides economic, cost and contractual advice throughout the building and development process. The profession combines technical, financial, legal and management knowledge.

The Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying with Honours develops an understanding of the quantity surveyor's role at each stage of a project, from the initial brief and design development to construction, completion, occupation and maintenance.

The programme focuses on achieving value for money through cost planning, estimating, contract administration, procurement, project coordination and claims management.

Students complete at least six months of practical training with a quantity surveying practice or construction-related organisation. They also undertake a major final-year project that integrates the knowledge and skills developed throughout the programme.
