Course Overview

The PhD in Computing at Quest International University is designed to equip students with the advanced research skills necessary to make significant contributions to the field of computing. This comprehensive program focuses on key aspects of research, including methods, processes, and techniques. Students will identify research problems, develop and refine methodologies, and create experimental tools to carry out high-level research.

They will also learn to manage experiments, analyze data statistically, and engage in discussions on contemporary issues in computing research.

In addition to conducting independent research, students will gain expertise in writing a PhD-level thesis. The program encourages active participation through presentations, assigned readings, and case-based assignments. Graduates of the PhD in Computing will be prepared to lead innovative research projects and contribute to advancements in academia, industry, and technology.

Entry Requirements

Minimum Entry Requirements

  1. A Master's degree in Computing or related fields as accepted by the HEP Senate; OR
  2. A Master's degree in NonComputing fields with a minimum of FIVE (5) years of working experience in Computing or related fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses as determined by the HEP; OR
  3. A Master's degree in NonComputing fields with less than FIVE (5) years of working experience in Computing or related fields must undergo a thorough rigorous assessment as determined by the HEP to identify the appropriate prerequisite courses that equivalent to their working experience in the Computing or related fields; OR
  4. Other qualifications equivalent to a Master's degree in Computing or related fields recognised by the Government of Malaysia as equivalent to the above requirement. The prerequisite courses are Introduction to C Programming and Database Systems.

English Language Proficiency Requirements:

  • Local Students: Achieve a minimum of Band 4 in MUET
  • International Students: IELTS Academic : 6.0. TOEFL iBT Score : 60 – 78, Cambridge English Qualification and Tests : 169 – 175, Pearson Test of English (PTE) : 59 – 62.

If a student does not meet this requirement, the HEP must offer English proficiency courses to ensure that the student's proficiency is sufficient to meet the needs of the programme.
