Course Overview

QIU’s PhD in Business Administration provides a distinct platform for candidates to develop a disposition for deep critical thinking and to build on existing knowledge and practice. The programme will also be a springboard for self-development and lifelong learning in the candidate’s selected field or subfield of interest, thereby expanding the candidate’s career options to include academia.

If you possess an inquisitive mind, a passion for rigorous research work and an inclination for uncovering new insights, the PhD in Business Administration is for you.

Entry Requirements

Minimum Entry Requirements

  1. A Master’s degree in related fields as accepted by the QIU Senate; OR
  2. A Master’s degree in non-related fields as accepted by the QIU Senate, subject to having relevant working experience and rigorous internal assessment; OR
  3. A Master’s degree in non-related fields as accepted by the QIU Senate and without relevant working experience, subject to passing pre-requisite courses; OR
  4. Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s degree recognised by the Malaysian Government.

International students: IELTS Band 6.0 / MUET Band 4 or its equivalent

Note:

A. HEP can take excellent Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) graduates for direct admission to Doctoral Degree by Research (Level 8, MQF) programme with the following conditions:

  • Students have first class Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification; or
  • Students have obtained CGPA of at least 3.67 or equivalent from either an academic or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme; and
  • Evaluated through rigorous internal assessment by the HEP; and
  • Approved by the HEP Senate and accepted as a candidate for the Doctoral Degree (Level 8, MQF) programme. Students must demonstrate appropriate progress during the candidature period.

B. Bachelor’s degree candidates who are registered for master’s degree programmes may apply to convert to the doctoral degree programmes subjected to the following conditions:

  • within 1 year for full time and within 2 years for part-time candidates;
  • having shown competency and capability in conducting research at doctoral-level through rigorous internal evaluation by the HEP; and
  • approval of the HEP Senate.
  • All fees are in RM (Ringgit Malaysia) currency unless stated otherwise.
