The Bachelor of Science (Hons) Actuarial Sciences programme is designed to equip students with a strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, and financial theory. It prepares them to become qualified actuaries who possess the ability to analyse risk and manage uncertainty, particularly in the insurance and banking industries.
Actuaries are well compensated professionals and are in demand worldwide, working in sectors such as life and general insurance, pensions and retirement planning, financial planning, investment companies, and risk management consulting firms.
QIU’s Actuarial Science programme curriculum is designed to support students who intend to pursue professional qualifications with bodies such as the Society of Actuaries (SOA), the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), and the Malaysia Financial Planning Council (MFPC). Professional bodies set their own eligibility and credit requirements, which may change over time.
The programme includes four major specialisations to ensure that the students gain in-depth knowledge and practical skills in key areas of finance and risk management:
Society of Actuaries (SOA)
The Society of Actuaries (SOA) is a global professional body for actuaries. SOA members specialize in life and health insurance, pensions, retirement systems, investments, and financial risk management. For more information: https://www.soa.org/
