Course Overview

Occupational Therapists (OTs) are healthcare providers who evaluate and provide treatment to clients with physical, psychosocial or developmental impairments or disabilities to ensure their home, workplace and community are accessible and safe.

OTs play the role of enablers and health advocates by breaking down barriers that affect a client’s participation and by helping improve functional performance in everyday activities. They work with clients and their communities to modify occupations or environments so clients can better engage in the activities they want to, need to, or are expected to do.

Occupational Therapy focuses on therapeutic interventions and techniques, orthotics and prosthetics, assistive and adaptive devices, mobility aids, and environmental modifications to support independent and safe participation in daily living activities such as self-care, work and leisure.
