Course Overview

The Post Basic Certificate in Orthopaedic Nursing at KPJ Healthcare College Johor Bahru is designed to equip Registered Nurses with essential theoretical knowledge and practical experience in orthopaedic nursing. This programme prepares nurses to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care to patients with musculoskeletal conditions, injuries, and post-operative needs.

Through a structured curriculum and clinical training within the KPJ Healthcare Group network, students gain exposure to real-world orthopaedic nursing practices.

Curriculum

  • PBON 5112: Orthopedic Basic Medical Science (Anatomy, Physiology, Nutrition, Ergonomics)
  • PBON 5122: Behavioural Science (Ethics, Nursing Law, Counselling)
  • PBON 5134: Orthopaedic Nursing 1 (Musculoskeletal Function, Trauma, Diagnostic Procedures)
  • PBON 5144: Orthopaedic Nursing 2 (Musculoskeletal Disorders, Congenital Conditions, Geriatric Care)
  • PBON 5152: Orthopaedic Nursing 3 (Spinal Disorders, Head Injuries, Operative Care)
  • PBON 5166: Clinical Practice (Supervised hands-on training and educational visits)

Entry Requirements

  • Possess Diploma/Bachelor in Nursing from a recognised institution by Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA).
  • Registered with Malaysian Nursing Board (MNB).
  • Possess current Practicing Certificate / Retention of Name for nurses from MNB before clinical placement.
  • ≥ 2 years clinical working experience.

Health Status:

  • Certified medically fit within one month of commencement.
  • No serious physical/mental illness or communicable diseases.
  • No physical disabilities hindering nursing dexterity.
  • Applicants must not be pregnant during the duration of the course.
