The Intensive English Programme (IEP) is specifically designed to cater to students’ proficiency needs in the English Language. The comprehensive content and programme structure emphasize general and academic English skills through modules such as Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. It equips students with the necessary skills to enable them to write and communicate well in English during their tertiary education at First City UC and at work after graduation.
The programme prepares students to sit for the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam which meets the language entry requirement for many higher education institutions worldwide. Students will be exposed to the effective test-taking strategies and time management skills needed to be able to perform well in the test.
IELTS Preparatory Workshops can also be arranged upon request at any point in the programme to further reinforce the skills and strategies needed for the students to perform well in the IELTS exam.
All applicants for the Intensive English Programme are required to sit for an English Placement Test at the point of entry to determine their appropriate placement level.
