April 3, 2026 | Campus News

CYBERJAYA, MALAYSIA - King Henry VIII College is proud to announce its appointment as the official examination centre for Malaysia and neighboring Southeast Asian countries for the Clarkson Institute Mathematical Competition & Talent Programme (CIMP). The CIMP is a fully funded global initiative designed to identify and support exceptional young mathematical talent. Top-performing students in the competition will be awarded a place in a two-week Advanced Mathematics Summer Programme at Lucy Cavendish College. This immersive residential experience allows students to live and study within the Cambridge collegiate environment, focusing on advanced mathematical reasoning, proof, and abstract thinking The programme's curriculum was designed by Lucy Cavendish College Fellow, Dr. Owain Salter Fitz-Gibbon, ensuring that participants engage with mathematics at a level aligned with elite university expectations.

Girish Menon, President of Lucy Cavendish College, emphasized the significance of the international partnership: "This partnership with the Clarkson Institute is aimed at fostering academic excellence in mathematics and enabling students to aspire for pursuing their academic career in Cambridge. At Lucy Cavendish College, we also believe in promoting cross-cultural exchange among young people for a better understanding of global issues."

As the designated regional hub, King Henry VIII College in Cyberjaya will host the entrance examination on April 11, 2026. Danny Wang, Founder of the Clarkson Institute, noted the importance of mathematics in the modern era: "Mathematics is the bedrock of modern scientific fields such as physics, biology, chemistry, and economics. Our goal is to identify students with profound mathematical potential and provide them with a definitive stepping stone to the world's leading universities."
