Course Overview
The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme at Manipal University College Malaysia (MUCM) is offered by one of Malaysia’s oldest and most established private medical institutions, with more than 25 years of medical education expertise.
Students benefit from a strong alumni network with approximately 15,000 Manipal graduates and access to over 30,000 patients a year for clinical experience training at the on-site dental clinic.
The programme is supported by globally experienced faculty who help prepare students for their specialisation and destination of choice after graduation.
Curriculum
The BDS programme is delivered over 5 years. Year 1 and Year 2 cover Phase 1 Pre-Clinical Subjects, while Year 3 onwards covers Clinical Subjects. Students spend much of their time in MUCM’s facilities, including 3 Student Polyclinics with 51 dental units each, as well as a well-equipped Prosthetic Laboratory.
The BDS programme provides value-based dental education using up-to-date technologies to help students acquire the clinical experience required for general dental practice.
Hospital dentistry, community programmes, general medicine and general surgery postings are arranged with collaborative agencies to support teaching and learning activities. These postings allow students to acquire knowledge, clinical skills and effective communication skills in real working environments.
